Alpha AI is a medical device maker listed on KOSDAQ in 2000 that historically operated two divisions: medical devices and healthcare products.
The medical division manufactures biocompatible metal implants for spine, fracture and joint surgery along with surgical instruments, carrying FDA certification for exports, and has maintained a leading domestic share in the trauma and spine segments.
The healthcare division sold thermal-stimulation devices, home medical devices, ionizers and health foods mainly through agency channels, and once accounted for a substantial share of revenue, but its agency-driven sales model hit its limits amid persistent losses, leading the company to suspend that division's operations in 2025.
In July 2025 the company changed its name from Alpha Nox to Alpha AI and formed a strategic partnership with vision-AI data platform firm AIMMO, declaring its entry into vision AI data markets including autonomous driving.
To that end, it added autonomous driving, vertical large language models, data center development and humanoid robotics to its stated business purposes.
Its governance subsequently shifted again as a civil-law partnership called AI Innovation Growth Equity became the controlling shareholder after securing a stake through a third-party private placement.
As part of its expansion drive, the company also acquired an 8.07% stake (2.75 million shares, KRW 5.5 billion) in hydrogen business NG W, funded through a convertible-bond substitute payment, alongside other outside equity investments.
Observers have noted that the overlap between the legacy medical device business and the new AI, hydrogen and real-estate-related investments remains limited.
